Proposal to Reduce the Number of Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s) within Cheshire by 87 officers
You are probably aware that the decision to reduce the PCSO number in Cheshire is concerning.
The police position is that the PCSO’s will be replaced by fully warranted (power to arrest with more equipment and training) officers and argue that this will strengthen neighbourhood policing teams.
However, Dan Price, the Police Commissioner, has come up with a proposal to raise the police part of your council tax to retain the number of PCSO’s as follows:
- No increase and 87 PCSO’s will go.
- £12 per year increase and 50 will go.
- £25 per year increase and all 87 stay.
